November 2 – 6, 2022 – Huntington, WV – Guyandotte Civil War Days
Each November the sights and sounds of the Civil War returns to Guyandotte. This is where history was made and with hundreds of re-enactors that will participate in America’s greatest street battle, and will live again. The dirt roads are paved and the modern buildings replace the burned out frames.
Guyandotte Civil War Days focuses its programs on this historic event in an effort to celebrate and promote the rich heritage of the area. The re-enactment of the Confederate raid on Saturday is the highlight of this event. The re-enactment is a true re-enactment based on known historical facts concerning the November 10,1861, skirmish.
The re-enactment of the Union Troops recapturing the town on Sunday will demonstrate the actual events of November 11, 1861. Re-enactments of known historic events and living history scenarios will be presented over the weekend. guyandottecivilwardays@gmail.com

The 1862 Battle of Prairie Grove was the last time two armies of almost equal strength faced each other for supremacy in northwest Arkansas. When the Confederate Army withdrew, it was clear Missouri and northwest Arkansas would remain in Federal hands.The park reenacts the Battle of Prairie Grove on even numbered years. The reenactment is held on the actual battlefield. This year the event will take place on Dec. 2-4. This was a battle between Union forces and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia. Preservation event featuring Anniversary programs at the American Battlefield Trust’s Slaughter Pen Farm site in Fredericksburg. Living history, battle recreation and Sunday Battle walks with Fredericksburg historians. A great way to help preserve the ground and educate people about the struggles that took place on the actual ground we will be marching and camping upon. This crossroads, long owned by the West family, is the junction of the Georgetown and Porter Bridge Roads, both of which appear on Robert Mills’s 1825 Atlas of S.C. In early 1865 opposing forces camped nearby as Gen. M.C. Butler’s Confederates attempted to slow the advance of Gen. W.T. Sherman’s Federals toward N.C., and fought a brief skirmish here on February 25th. This inaugural reenactment is a private event for reenactors, friends, and family. Florida’s first state park, will commemorate the 159th anniversary of the Civil War and host the 46th Annual Reenactment of the Battle of Olustee Feb. 17-19, 2023. The Delta Cultural Center will host the 160th Anniversary Reenactment of the the Battle of Helena on April 14 - 16, 2023. Plans call for a Civil War School Days Event at Cherry Street Pavilion in Helena from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on April 14, 2023. A battle reenactment will then take place on April 15 at 2 p.m. Another reenactment battle will also take place on April 16 at 1 p.m. Camps are open to visitors form 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and this event is free for visitors. The Battle of Helena, which was fought on July 4, 1863, was one of the largest and most important events in Arkansas during the American Civil War. This Union fortification comes to life as military and civilian reenactors portray the lives of soldier and citizen inhabitants of the fort. Sutlers offering reproductions of Civil War-era merchandise and clothing contribute to an authentic atmosphere. Fort Pocahontas is open to the public for this event from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and 10am to 3pm on Sunday. Spectators are invited to tour the fort where the art of field fortification is revealed and to visit the bustling camps inside it for family-friendly living history activities throughout the day. The most talked about event in past years is back... after 22 years away. Civil War event at the Winterset Iowa Battlefield planned again for October 13/14/15 2023 Winterset has over 200 stunning primitive rough and ready acres of private property dedicated for this reenactment. Our battlefield has had over 3000 feet of redoubts, earthworks and fortifications, and we are planning on making them again for 2023. The beautiful Cedar Creek runs right through our battlefield. Giving soldiers a natural barrier to cross, along with the Cedar covered bridge which we use every year which is a stunning 1800’s bridge... Skirmishes were encouraged all weekend long between commanders. The mainstream campers US/CS camps are separated on top of the high cliffs overlooking the beautiful battlefield below.
