Bridging the Gap

On February 10. 2022, I had the honor of attending a meeting with the Private George W. Thomas, Camp # 1594 in Ft. Pierce, Florida. I was greeted by many friends and introduced to potential new ones. The Buffet style dinner at Golden Corral left this old general filled to the brim.

The meeting began with the usual invocation offered by Chaplain Jacob Whaley, Pledge of Allegiance, salute to the Confederate Flag, and sharing of the Charge, written by General Stephen Dill Lee. Guests were recognized. I was introduced and thanked all present for allowing me to be a small part of the meeting. I mentioned the mini-documentary of Arlington that was on ROKU (go to search and type in AME-TV). Look for History Highways. Episode twelve (12) of History Highways discussed the importance of reflecting upon those who lie within sacred soils across this land. Typical reports such as financial and announcements were provided. An informative presentation by Chaplain Jacob Whaley regarding King David’s life and the cannon named in his honor was offered.
